What types of companies do you invest in?

I take a highly generalist approach and have invested in companies across a wide variety of verticals. The only thing I won’t touch is hardcore deep and biotech, as between you and me, I wouldn’t be in a position to properly diligence those companies. I also have no problem investing in companies that are a bit on the fringe - I have companies related to cannabis, tattoos, and all kinds of fun things in my portfolio.

How involved of an angel investor are you?

Depends on a multitude of factors, but mostly how much a founder would like me to be involved. I have founders I speak with regularly to work through problems, but I also have founders I don’t speak with at all. I love to know what folks are looking for beyond just capital when we have an initial conversation - there are some verticals where I have deep networks and others where I may be more of just a check writer. What are you looking for in your angel investments?

I invest in companies and founders that keep me up at night. I love to support those who have been historically underserved by VC funding. I look for founders who have deep knowledge of and care for the problem they are seeking to solve, and who have surrounded themselves with a team I think has what it takes to win.
